Pinkerton is Weezer's 1996 second album, a raw, confessional record loosely inspired by Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly, trading the polish of the Blue Album for messier, more emotionally exposed songwriting. Poorly received on release, with Rivers Cuomo himself later calling it embarrassing, the album's reputation reversed dramatically over the following decade as fans embraced its rawness. It's since been reappraised as an alternative rock classic and a key influence on the emo movement that followed.
