Released April 26, 1994 on MCA Records and produced by Tony Brown with McEntire, Read My Mind arrived as her nineteenth studio album amid a wave of crossover visibility from a bestselling autobiography and an NBC television special. “She Thinks His Name Was John” broke ground as one of the first mainstream country singles to address the AIDS epidemic, while “Till You Love Me” became McEntire’s first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter” topped the country singles chart. The album peaked at number two on both the Top Country Albums and Billboard 200 charts and was certified triple platinum. A 25th Anniversary Edition followed in 2019 with remastered audio and additional live material, underscoring the record’s lasting place in McEntire’s catalog.
