Filmed over two nights at Radio City Music Hall and released by Netflix in May 2018, Kid Gorgeous at Radio City is widely regarded as a high point of John Mulaney’s stand-up career, built around meticulously structured bits like “Stranger Danger” and the recurring runner about a horse loose in a hospital. The special won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special and drew widespread critical praise for Mulaney’s tightly plotted storytelling and physical performance style, cementing his reputation as one of the most technically precise comedians of his generation. Drag City’s vinyl release, issued later in 2018, preserves the full special across a single LP, closing with a musical setting of one of Mulaney’s bits arranged by Jon Brion.
