I Can Only Be Me is a posthumous Eva Cassidy album pairing her original isolated vocal recordings with newly composed orchestral arrangements performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, released March 3, 2023 by Blix Street Records. The project used audio restoration technology developed for Peter Jackson’s film work to lift Cassidy’s voice cleanly from decades-old tapes, allowing arranger William Ross to build lush new string and orchestral settings around performances like “Songbird” and “Autumn Leaves.” Cassidy, who died of melanoma in 1996 at age 33 before wide recognition, had voiced a wish to record with a full orchestra, a dream this release posthumously fulfills. The album debuted at number nine on the UK Official Albums Chart, extending Cassidy’s remarkable pattern of major chart success achieved entirely after her death. This deluxe edition is pressed on 180-gram 2LP at 45 RPM for enhanced audio fidelity.
