Should’ve Been a Cowboy: 25th Anniversary Edition is a 2018 vinyl reissue of Toby Keith’s self-titled 1993 debut album on Mercury Records, rechristened for its silver anniversary after the title track that launched his career. Produced by Nelson Larkin and Harold Shedd, the original album spawned four hit singles, led by “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” which hit number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and became the most played country song of the 1990s. The debut eventually sold more than a million copies and earned RIAA platinum certification, establishing Keith as a major new voice in country music. Marking the record’s first-ever vinyl pressing, this UMG Nashville reissue adds three previously unreleased rare tracks from Keith’s personal archive.
