Originally issued via Trojan Records, the compilation captures the raw, bass-heavy production style that Perry brought to the group during one of the most creatively fertile stretches of Marley’s career. This 2023 Goldenlane/Cleopatra pressing marks the first domestic US vinyl release of the collection and its first-ever appearance on splatter vinyl, presented on green-and-black colored wax. It remains an essential listen for tracing Marley’s evolution from ska and rocksteady roots toward the roots reggae sound that would make him a global icon.
