James, Come to Daddy paired ferocious, distorted breakbeats with the eerie, high-pitched screaming vocal that defined the title track, whose Chris Cunningham-directed video, featuring a horde of demonic children, became one of the most notorious clips of the era. The EP reached No. 36 on the UK Singles Chart and earned a Silver certification, an unusually high placement for such abrasive material, and it remains a touchstone for the intersection of electronic music and horror-inflected visual art. This 2017 Warp Records reissue restores the original 12-inch, 45 RPM pressing, pairing the ‘Pappy Mix’ of the title track with the melodic ‘Flim’ and the industrial workout ‘Bucephalus Bouncing Ball.’
