Released on Metropolis Records, Ecdysis is Berlin-based, Australian-born artist Zoë Zanias’s solo full-length under the Zanias name, built from atmospheric synthesizers, driving electronic percussion, and her signature ethereal vocals within the darkwave and post-punk-adjacent electronic scenes. The album’s title, referencing the process by which an animal sheds its exoskeleton, reflects its themes of transformation and renewal, following Zanias’s earlier work with the acclaimed duo Linea Aspera and the project Keluar. Critical response within the darkwave and coldwave underground has been strongly positive, with the record cited as a highlight of the genre’s early-2020s revival. This pressing is a limited edition blue and white splatter vinyl.
