Breakout singles “Protect Ya Neck” and “C.R.E.A.M.” became genre touchstones, and the record’s stripped-down, cinematic sound influenced a generation of East Coast producers. It debuted modestly at #41 on the Billboard 200 but went on to multi-platinum certification and induction into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2022.
