By 1973, Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe were the bad boys of New York salsa, and Lo Mato captures them at their peak. Colón's gritty trombone arrangements and Lavoe's streetwise, soaring vocals power “Calle Luna, Calle Sol” and “Todo Tiene Su Final,” which became one of Lavoe's signature songs. The famous gangster-themed cover matched the album's swaggering, tough-edged sound.
