Composed, arranged, and produced by Rolf Løvland with violinist Fionnuala Sherry as his musical partner, Songs from a Secret Garden was released in 1995/96 on the strength of “Nocturne,” the instrumental piece that won the Eurovision Song Contest for Norway in 1995. The album became a global new-age phenomenon, topping the Norwegian charts, going platinum in Norway and gold in Belgium, and spending 101 weeks on the Billboard New Age chart in the US. Blending Sherry’s violin with piano, guitar, harp, and contributions from the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Irish National Chamber Choir, the record established Secret Garden’s signature Celtic-classical crossover sound, later carried forward on hits like “You Raise Me Up.” This 2025 30th anniversary edition presents a newly remastered cut of the original program on vinyl.
