Rosalia | El Mal Querer | Vinyl

El Mal Querer is Rosalía’s 2018 concept album, released November 2, 2018 on Columbia Records and structured as eleven “chapters” loosely inspired by the 13th-century Occitan novel Flamenca. Co-produced by Rosalía and El Guincho, the album fuses traditional flamenco singing and palmas with reggaeton and trap production, a genre-blurring approach that began as her thesis project at the Catalonia College of Music. Singles “Malamente,” “Pienso en Tu Mirá,” “Di Mi Nombre,” and “Bagdad” built global buzz ahead of release. The album topped Spain’s albums chart and hit number one on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart, later winning Album of the Year at the 2019 Latin Grammys and Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the 2020 Grammys, cementing Rosalía as flamenco-pop’s defining new voice.
