Norah Jones self-produced most of Pick Me Up Off the Floor, with two tracks co-produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, drawing on sessions recorded piecemeal across several New York studios and Chicago’s The Loft between 2019 and early 2020. The lead single ‘I’m Alive’ features Tweedy, while ‘How I Weep’ and ‘Flame Twin’ extend the moody, jazz-inflected songwriting of her recent work. The album marked her first studio effort not to reach the Billboard 200 top ten, debuting at No. 87, though it topped the Top Jazz Albums chart. Recorded and released amid the onset of COVID-19, it reflects Jones’s ongoing pivot from the piano-pop of her 2002 debut Come Away with Me toward a looser, more exploratory singer-songwriter sound. This pressing is a limited half black, half white split vinyl LP.
