MTV Unplugged in New York (2LP) captures Nirvana's stripped-down November 1993 acoustic performance, released posthumously in 1994 following Kurt Cobain's death. Staged with candles and stargazer lilies rather than the series' usual bright set, the performance leans into deep cuts and covers of the Vaselines, David Bowie, the Meat Puppets, and Lead Belly's “Where Did You Sleep Last Night.” The album won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 1996 and is regarded as one of the finest entries in the Unplugged franchise.
