Kind of Blue (Mono) is Miles Davis's 1959 masterpiece, presented here in its original mono mix, recorded with a sextet including John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, and Bill Evans and built around modal scales rather than traditional chord changes. Most of the album was recorded in just two sessions with minimal rehearsal, giving the record its remarkably fresh, in-the-moment feel that the mono mix preserves in its most direct original form. This pressing captures the best-selling jazz album of all time as listeners originally experienced it, a foundational document of modal jazz still studied by musicians today.
