Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and in Beijing, Piano Book was conceived by Lang Lang as a tribute to the repertoire every young piano student encounters, from Bach’s Minuet in G and Beethoven’s “Für Elise” to Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Chopin’s “Raindrop” Prelude. The set also folds in folk-inflected pieces tied to Lang Lang’s own heritage and modern favorites such as Yann Tiersen’s “La Valse d’Amélie” and Max Richter’s “The Departure.” Released alongside an instructional companion book aimed at piano students, the album reflects Lang Lang’s dual role as a touring virtuoso and a global advocate for music education through his International Music Foundation. The 2LP gatefold vinyl edition, pressed on 180-gram vinyl in Germany, spans over 70 minutes of music across four sides.
