H.E.R. is the artist's self-titled 2017 compilation debut, combining her early EPs H.E.R. Volume 1 and H.E.R. Volume 2 into a single project, released while she maintained a deliberately mysterious public persona. “Focus” and “Best Part” showcased her intimate, R&B-rooted songwriting and impressive guitar playing, drawing comparisons to artists like Sade and Frank Ocean. The album won the Grammy for Best R&B Album, a rare feat for a compilation of previously released material rather than a traditional studio album.
