Changes is Charles Bradley's 2016 third and final studio album before his death from cancer the following year, a deep-soul record that drew directly from his own difficult, decades-long path to musical recognition. His cover of Black Sabbath's “Changes,” reworked into a raw, orchestral soul ballad, became an unlikely emotional centerpiece and one of the most acclaimed covers of the decade. Bradley, dubbed the “Screaming Eagle of Soul,” only began his recording career in his fifties, giving his hard-won catalog an added sense of urgency and gratitude.
