Recorded across sessions at RCA Victor’s Nashville and New York studios (with several Sun Records-era Sam Phillips productions carried over), Elvis Presley introduced the 21-year-old singer’s raw, rockabilly-charged blend of country, blues, and R&B to a national audience. The LP spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, becoming the first rock and roll album to reach number one and the genre’s first million-selling album. Its stark black-and-white cover photo, shot at a Tampa concert, has been endlessly referenced, most famously by The Clash on their 1979 album London Calling. Rolling Stone has repeatedly ranked it among the greatest albums ever made. This pressing is a green vinyl reissue from UK reissue label Not Now Records.
