The Valley is Charley Crockett’s 2019 album, subtitled “and Other Autobiographical Tunes,” released September 20, 2019 on his own Son of Davy label through Thirty Tigers. Co-produced by Crockett with Billy Horton and Jason Moeller at Fort Horton and Alnico Studios in Texas, the fifteen-song record draws directly on Crockett’s hardscrabble upbringing in the Rio Grande Valley and his years busking and hopping trains before music stardom. Singles “Borrowed Time” and “The Valley” both arrived in July 2019 ahead of the LP. The album reached number sixteen on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and was praised by critics for its unflinching, plainspoken songwriting about Crockett’s colorful life story.
