The Blues Is Alive and Well, released in 2018 and produced by Tom Hambridge, finds Buddy Guy, then 81 years old, still delivering ferocious, paint-peeling guitar work alongside an all-star supporting cast. Keith Richards and Jeff Beck trade licks with Guy on “Cognac,” Mick Jagger adds harmonica to “You Did the Crime,” and James Bay guests on “Blue No More.” The album, a 2LP gatefold set on RCA/Silvertone, won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album at the 61st Grammy Awards, cementing Guy’s status as one of the last living links to Chicago’s postwar blues scene.
