Weezer's self-titled 1994 debut, known as the Blue Album, was produced by the Cars' Ric Ocasek and helped define '90s power-pop with its blend of crunchy guitars and melodic hooks. Spike Jonze's Happy Days-themed video for “Buddy Holly” won three MTV Video Music Awards and became a defining image of the era. The album has since been certified Diamond in the US and is regarded as a foundational record for the alternative rock that followed.
