Speaking in Tongues is Talking Heads' 1983 fifth album, a funk-and-pop-inflected record that produced their only Top 10 hit, “Burning Down the House,” alongside deep cuts like “This Must Be the Place.” Much of the album's material formed the backbone of the band's celebrated Stop Making Sense concert film and tour, directed by Jonathan Demme. David Byrne's angular songwriting and the band's rhythmic, Afrobeat-influenced grooves made it one of their most accessible records.
