Sublime is the band's self-titled 1996 album, released two months after frontman Bradley Nowell's death from a heroin overdose, giving the record's party-and-pain duality an added weight. Blending ska, reggae, punk, and hip-hop on tracks like “What I Got,” “Santeria,” and “Wrong Way,” the album became a multi-platinum breakthrough that turned Sublime into one of the defining Southern California bands of the '90s. It remains a staple of alternative radio decades after its release.
