Adore is the Smashing Pumpkins' 1998 fifth album, a more electronic, subdued record made following drummer Jimmy Chamberlin's departure from the band after a period of personal tragedy that also included the death of Billy Corgan's mother. Trading much of the band's earlier guitar-driven bombast for programmed drums and gothic, atmospheric songwriting, the record marked a significant stylistic departure that initially divided longtime fans. This 2LP pressing presents an album that has since been reevaluated as one of Corgan's most emotionally raw and musically ambitious statements.
