Graceland (25th Anniversary Edition) is Paul Simon's 1986 seventh solo album, a landmark fusion of American pop songwriting with South African mbaqanga and township music, recorded with local Soweto musicians during the height of apartheid-era cultural boycotts. The collaboration drew both acclaim and controversy for Simon's decision to record in South Africa despite the boycott, even as the record's musical achievement was widely celebrated. It won the Grammy for Album of the Year and remains one of the most influential and discussed examples of cross-cultural musical collaboration in popular music.
