Produced by Arif Mardin, Craig Street, and Jay Newland for Blue Note Records, Come Away with Me introduced 21-year-old Norah Jones with a hushed, piano-led blend of jazz phrasing, folk intimacy, and country-tinged balladry, powered by the breakout single ‘Don’t Know Why.’ The album also includes the title track, ‘Feelin’ the Same Way,’ and a spare cover of Hank Williams’s ‘Cold, Cold Heart,’ surrounding Jones’s voice and piano with understated guitar work from Bill Frisell and Adam Levy. It debuted modestly on the Billboard 200 but climbed to No. 1 nearly a year later, ultimately spending 165 weeks on the chart and selling more than 27 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling debut album by a female artist. At the 2003 Grammy Awards it swept Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album, and it remains a defining crossover jazz-pop record of the 2000s. This 20th-anniversary vinyl edition returns the album to print for a new generation of listeners.
