Total (2018) is a 2LP vinyl compilation spanning Joy Division and New Order, tracing the transformation of one band into another following Ian Curtis's death in 1980 and the group's rebirth as New Order. The tracklisting, chosen by the surviving band members themselves, includes non-album singles and alternate mixes not otherwise easy to find, from Joy Division's “Transmission” through New Order's “World in Motion.” First released as a CD compilation in 2011, this pressing marked its first-ever vinyl release, offering a single-set introduction to one of post-punk's most significant musical lineages.
