Heard It in a Past Life is Maggie Rogers' 2019 debut studio album, released after a video of Pharrell Williams tearing up over her song “Alaska” during an NYU masterclass went viral in 2016. The record blends her folk-rooted songwriting background with electronic dance production she developed after that unexpected exposure, most notably on “Light On” and “Fallingwater.” The album earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, capping a rapid and unusually public rise to prominence.
