Above (Expanded Edition) is Mad Season's 1995 sole studio album, a Seattle supergroup collaboration featuring Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, Pearl Jam bassist Mike McCready, and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin alongside vocalist Layne Staley. The record's bluesy, melancholic sound, deeply informed by Staley's ongoing struggles with addiction, gave the project a haunting emotional weight beyond typical Seattle grunge. This 2LP 180g gatefold edition includes expanded bonus material, offering a fuller picture of one of the era's most poignant and short-lived collaborative projects.
