Mac Miller had been working on Circles as a companion album to 2018’s Swimming before his death in September 2018; producer Jon Brion completed the record using Miller’s demos and notes, and it was released in January 2020. The album leans into soft rock, soul, and folk textures more than hip-hop, with the single “Good News” capturing Miller’s reflections on mental health and mortality. Circles debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was met with widespread critical acclaim as a fittingly intimate farewell. This 2LP clear vinyl pressing spreads the album across four sides and includes the deluxe bonus tracks “Right” and “Floating,” released as a posthumous coda in 2020.
