In the Court of the Crimson King is King Crimson's 1969 debut, widely credited as the album that launched progressive rock as a genre alongside contemporaries like Yes and Genesis. Robert Fripp's guitar work and Ian McDonald's mellotron create dramatic, orchestral swells on tracks like “Epitaph,” while “21st Century Schizoid Man” veers into jazz-inflected chaos and social commentary. This 200g pressing showcases the record's ambitious scope, still cited by prog and metal musicians alike as a foundational influence.
