Closer is Joy Division's 1980 second and final album, released just weeks after singer Ian Curtis's suicide, casting the record's already bleak, funereal tone in an even darker light. Producer Martin Hannett pushed the band's sound further into cold, synth-influenced territory than their debut, particularly on the haunting closer “Decades.” This 180g pressing presents the band's final artistic statement, an album now regarded as a landmark of post-punk despite the tragedy surrounding its release.
