A Love Supreme is John Coltrane's 1965 spiritual jazz masterpiece, a four-part suite recorded in a single December 1964 session with his classic quartet of McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones. Conceived as an expression of Coltrane's religious devotion following his recovery from addiction, the album moves from the searching “Acknowledgement” through to the meditative “Psalm.” It's widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz albums ever made and a defining statement of Coltrane's mature style.
