Getz/Gilberto is the 1964 bossa nova landmark by saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, featuring pianist and composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, whose compositions form much of the record's foundation. “The Girl from Ipanema,” sung by then-unknown Astrud Gilberto, became a global phenomenon and remains one of the most recorded songs in jazz history. It's one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time, widely credited with sparking American mainstream interest in bossa nova during the 1960s.
