Around the Fur is Deftones' 1997 second album, a heavier, more atmospheric evolution of the band's nu-metal roots that began distinguishing them from their peers in the genre. Chino Moreno's melodic, often whispered vocal passages alongside Stephen Carpenter's downtuned riffs on “My Own Summer (Shove It)” and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” showed a band already developing a more textured sound. This 180g pressing captures the record widely regarded as a turning point toward the more expansive, genre-blurring style the band would fully realize on White Pony.
