Aladdin Sane is David Bowie's 1973 sixth album, a follow-up to Ziggy Stardust written largely while touring America, giving it a more fractured, jazz-inflected sound reflecting his impressions of the country. The cover, featuring Bowie's iconic red-and-blue lightning bolt makeup design, has become one of the most recognizable images in rock history, endlessly reproduced across merchandise and fan art decades later. Pianist Mike Garson's avant-garde contributions, particularly on the title track, pushed the record into more experimental territory than its glam-rock predecessor.
