Please Please Me is the Beatles' 1963 debut album, recorded in a remarkably brisk single day session to capture the raw energy of their live sets before the band's sound and ambitions grew more elaborate. The title track and “Twist and Shout,” the latter recorded in one exhausted take at the very end of the session, both became defining early hits that launched Beatlemania in the UK. It remains a foundational document of the British Invasion, capturing the band at their most unpolished and immediate.
