Funeral is Arcade Fire's 2004 debut album, a sweeping, orchestral indie rock record written in the wake of several band members' family deaths during its recording, a loss reflected in the album's title and emotional urgency. Tracks like “Wake Up” and “Rebellion (Lies)” build from intimate arrangements into anthemic, string-and-brass-driven climaxes that felt genuinely new within indie rock. This 150g gatefold pressing captures a record widely credited with launching the mid-2000s indie rock boom and inspiring a generation of bands that followed.
